Q: How many Contractors does it take to destroy a flower garden?
A: Only two, if they are contracted help from Comcast Cable. Last week my cable went out. I called and was amazed that they sent somebody that same day. To fix it, the guy ran a new temporary line across my lawn. It worked and I was happy. Of course they had to send someone else out to properly install the new line, so today they came. My daughter tore into the house to tell me people were digging up our yard. I went out and see this guy with a shovel in the driveway by the front porch. I ask "What are you doing?" He told me he was burying the cable line. I said I thought that was odd, because there are two lines, one of them was bad, so the guy ran that temp across the lawn, but other line was still over head. Then I said "Oh well, as long as it works." I did notice it looked like they were only burying it about 6 inches, but I figured they must know what they are doing. In retrospect, I don't know why I figured that. After they left, I went out to check on the lawn and was surprised at how well they covered their tracks. A little later, I decided to weed and water my little flower garden next to the house. I noticed one of my solar lights was broken at the bottom of the stem, and I thought maybe I could just pound in in the ground deeper. Then I saw one my azalea's had been covered with clumps of dirt, so I removed the dirt, and made a note to get some more wood chips and recover it plus the hose I use for my sprinkler which had became uncovered. I went along pulling weeds, and then I noticed another solar light had been knocked off it's stem, and I thought I would just pop that back on. I hung up one of my planters that I usually place in the flower bed when it is getting too dry and needs to be soaked, when I saw something shiny. I looked closer and was shocked to find where it came from. My little rain girl statue/sprinkler. The shower head had been ripped from her little hands. AHHHHHHHH! Now I am pissed. It took me weeks to find a statue that wasn't too big or too "you know" This one was small, kinda cute with out being too gawdy. - Just a little girl wearing a rain bonnet and holding a clear hose with a shower head type sprinkler on the end. "She" has been faithfully watering this little flower garden all summer long and was one of the few joys I had going for me amid all the other BS I have had to deal with this summer. You think the guy would have said something to me when he had broken these things, or better yet, why didn't he just ask me to move them myself before continuing? What an ass. I imediately called Comcast, and they said they will get back with me for a property damage report. Like my little girl can be replaced. We all know solar lights are in huge supply this time of year - NOT. Well, I guess I will have to wait and see. |
